Western Australian Wildflowers

The joy of being in the right place at the right time. Viewing wildflowers and orchids on a country dirt road north of Perth, a large tractor with even larger farm implement in tow pulled up in front of our 4WD vehicle. Out jumped an enthusiastic farmer who was very keen to show us the wildflowers close to his farm.

We sat in the middle of the isolated road receiving instructions by a mud map drawn in the dirt with a stick. The visitors on this wildflower odyssey were agog and elated at witnessing such a happening.

With an introduction on the road verge of what we were to look for, our eager host disappeared as quickly as he had appeared out of the enormous tractor.

Left to explore the hidden treasures of the vicinity we saw orchids and endemic flowers we would not normally have seen in the region.

Higher than previous years seasonal rains the cereal crops and wildflowers have been in abundance.
